This is a brief statement written to reply to a question about my position on immunizations, and I will expand on this important topics soon.
Many vaccinations are considered healthy preventative medicine, protecting against diseases that can cause severe illness and death. For instance, the polio vaccine has been a cornerstone in virtually eradicating polio worldwide, showcasing the undeniable benefits of vaccinations in public health.
However, the necessity of mandating vaccinations can vary depending on the disease's relevance to society and public safety. While the polio vaccine represents a critical measure for public health, the approach to the HPV vaccine, which prevents a virus that can lead to cancer, might be different. It's essential to consider each disease's specific context and impact when determining whether vaccination mandates are appropriate, balancing public health benefits with individual choice.
As a general rule, I do not believe that one's government should tell one what to do with one's body; however, in cases such as polio, the benefit is present.
